S Tier Characters
Let’s take a look at all of the players in this tier:
Shoyo Hinata (SP)

SP Hinata is the closest thing this game has to a true carry. His offensive mechanics push him near UR level impact, and his combo with Kenma Kozume delivers a significant team wide damage boost that no other pairing matches right now.
He is built around explosive synergy rather than raw stats, which means he rewards players who build his supporting cast properly. If you land him during rerolls, build your entire early team around him.
Yu Nishinoya
Nishinoya is the most reliable Libero in the game across every stage of progression. He is strong immediately as an SSR and continues scaling into his SP version, which makes him one of the safest long term investments available.
Defensive stability is undervalued by new players, but matches are frequently decided by whether your team can keep rallies alive. Nishinoya does exactly that, and he never really falls off.
Kentaro Kyotani

Kyotani punches well above his rarity. His offensive stats are high enough that he functions as a main damage dealer even in mid game setups, which is unusual for a standard SSR.
His Aoba Johsai synergy is where the real value sits. Paired with other Seijoh players he becomes genuinely competitive with higher rarity attackers, making him one of the best value pulls in the game.
Wakatoshi Ushijima
Ushijima is pure offensive dominance. His raw stats and spike power make him one of the best finishers in the game, and his left handed spikes break through defenses that stop other attackers.
The tradeoff is synergy flexibility. He does not slot neatly into every composition the way some A tier players do, but when your goal is simply ending rallies with force, nobody does it better.
Tobio Kageyama
Kageyama is the backbone of every quick attack team. His pinpoint tosses boost spike power directly, and his Freak Quick synergy with Hinata remains one of the strongest combos available.
What makes him especially valuable is efficiency. He is easy to build early and stays relevant deep into the game, which is rare among setters and makes him one of the best reroll targets in HAIKYU!! FLY HIGH.
A Tier Characters
Let’s take a look at all of the players in this tier:
Toru Oikawa

Oikawa is a well rounded setter with strong stats, powerful jump serves, and unpredictable tosses that disrupt enemy rhythm. He fits into a wide range of teams without demanding a specific build around him.
He sits just below S tier only because more specialized setters edge him out in their preferred compositions. As a flexible pick who works almost anywhere, he remains an excellent pull.
Kenma Kozume
Kenma is the most synergy dependent player on this list. Paired with SP Hinata he becomes genuinely top tier, buffing teammates and debuffing opponents while enabling that combo’s damage spike.
Outside that pairing his impact drops noticeably. He is a tactical setter rather than a raw offensive one, so his value depends heavily on whether you have the right partner for him.
Kei Tsukishima
Tsukishima is a consistently reliable middle blocker with excellent reach and timing. He weakens enemy spikers while supporting your own quick attacks, which gives him value on both sides of the net.
He is also accessible early, making him a dependable option while you work toward stronger pulls. His ceiling is lower than SP options, but he rarely feels like a weak link.
Asahi Azumane

Asahi is a strong early to mid game spiker with solid damage output and good stamina, which makes him useful in longer matches where other attackers fade.
His limitation is long term scaling. He performs well when you first get him but does not keep pace with higher tier attackers once your roster develops, so treat him as a strong bridge rather than a permanent core piece.
Hajime Iwaizumi
Iwaizumi is a balanced wing spiker with dependable offense and solid serves. He fits into most team setups thanks to his consistency across both offense and defense.
He is particularly valuable in Aoba Johsai lineups alongside Kyotani and Oikawa, where faction synergy lifts his overall performance beyond what his individual stats suggest.
Koshi Sugawara

Sugawara is a flexible support setter with accurate tosses and stamina buffs that sustain your team through longer rallies. He strengthens spikers rather than carrying matches himself.
He is the ideal pick when you lack a top tier setter, since his adaptability lets him function in almost any composition without demanding specific partners.
Ryunosuke Tanaka
Tanaka is a fierce, high energy wing spiker who excels in aggressive offense focused lineups. His synergy with Nishinoya makes him especially effective in early Karasuno builds.
Like Asahi, he falls off as stronger attackers become available, but he does a lot of heavy lifting during the stretch when your roster is still developing.
Takanobu Aone
Aone is a scaling unit with excellent block stats that shine in specific late game compositions. He is dominant against power based teams that rely on brute force spiking.
He requires proper team setup to unlock his full potential, and his offensive contribution stays limited throughout, so build him only if you have a composition that actually needs a dedicated blocker.

Kenji Futakuchi
Futakuchi is versatile and consistent, performing well as a secondary attacker in most lineups. He does not define a team the way S tier players do, but he rarely underperforms either.
He is a solid filler pick who holds a slot competently while you chase better options, which is more valuable than it sounds during the early and mid game.
B Tier Characters
Let’s look at all of the players in this tier:
Tetsuro Kuroo

Kuroo offers real tactical value as a middle blocker, shutting down spikers and creating counter opportunities through well timed blocks. His fundamentals are genuinely good.
The problem is competition. More specialized blockers outperform him in their preferred roles, which leaves him usable but rarely optimal once your roster fills out.
Daichi Sawamura
Daichi provides defensive stability and stamina recovery support, making him a steady presence in balanced teams. He is reliable and never actively hurts a lineup.
What he lacks is offensive pressure. At higher levels of play, matches demand attackers who can close out rallies, and Daichi simply does not bring that kind of threat.
Lev Haiba

Lev has strong physical attributes on paper, with the height and reach to be a genuine threat at the net. The issue is consistency.
He relies heavily on timing and team support to function, which makes his performance swing dramatically between matches. Without a build specifically constructed around him, he underdelivers.
Best Team Lineups in HAIKYU!! FLY HIGH
Individual rankings only get you so far. These lineups combine well because of synergy, not just raw tier placement:
- Freak Quick Karasuno lineup: Tobio Kageyama, Shoyo Hinata (SP), Yu Nishinoya, Kei Tsukishima, Asahi Azumane
This is the strongest all round team for most players. Kageyama and Hinata drive the quick attack engine, Nishinoya keeps rallies alive, Tsukishima covers the net, and Asahi provides a second attacking threat.
- SP Hinata synergy lineup: Shoyo Hinata (SP), Kenma Kozume, Yu Nishinoya, Tobio Kageyama, Wakatoshi Ushijima
Built specifically around the Hinata and Kenma combo for its team wide damage boost. This is your highest ceiling option if you have both cards, with Ushijima as a finisher when the quick attack gets read.
- Aoba Johsai synergy lineup: Toru Oikawa, Kentaro Kyotani, Hajime Iwaizumi, Yu Nishinoya, Kei Tsukishima
Faction synergy carries this team. Kyotani’s Seijoh bonuses push him well above his rarity, and Oikawa’s serves plus Iwaizumi’s consistency give you a lineup that punches above its individual tier placements.
- Early game free to play lineup: Tobio Kageyama, Ryunosuke Tanaka, Yu Nishinoya, Koshi Sugawara, Kei Tsukishima
Everything here is achievable without heavy pulling. Tanaka and Nishinoya synergize in Karasuno builds, Sugawara covers setter duties if Kageyama is missing, and Tsukishima handles blocking reliably.
- Defensive control lineup: Yu Nishinoya, Takanobu Aone, Kei Tsukishima, Kenma Kozume, Wakatoshi Ushijima
Built for outlasting aggressive teams. Aone and Tsukishima wall the net, Nishinoya covers the back row, Kenma disrupts, and Ushijima converts the openings that pressure creates.
