Being a PvP-oriented game, there’s a lot to learn and grasp, especially if you’re just starting out. Not to worry, as we have compiled a list of some helpful Pokemon Champions tips and tricks that are bound to get you ahead of the curve. Check them out below!

Tip #1. Complete the Tutorial of Pokemon Champions

This sounds obvious but a lot of new players skip past tutorials as fast as possible. Do not do that here. The tutorials in Pokemon Champions cover mechanics that actually differ from the main series games, and they reward you for completing them.

The basic battle tutorial covers move priority and turn order, which work a little differently here. The Double Battle tutorial teaches the lead pair structure that almost every ranked match is built around. The Mega Evolution tutorial gives you free Mega Stones just for finishing it, which saves a significant amount of VP early on. Getting these free rewards at the start sets you up much faster than ignoring the tutorials and jumping straight into Casual Battle.

Tip #2. Claim the Daily and Weekly Mission Rewards

Missions are the most consistent source of VP and Tickets in Pokemon Champions, and they are easy to miss if you are not in the habit of checking. Most of them complete naturally while you play, so you just need to remember to collect the rewards.

Daily missions reward VP, Tickets, and Training Materials for basic in-game actions like winning battles and using specific move types. Weekly missions typically reward larger amounts of VP for tasks like Mega Evolving Pokemon or chaining wins.

Starter missions give big one-time rewards for reaching early milestones like trying all battle modes. Reroll any mission that requires a Pokemon or strategy you are not currently using, instead of forcing yourself to change your team. Before logging off every session, always check the mission tab. A few minutes of collecting rewards adds up to a major VP advantage over time.

Tip #3. Spend your VP (Victory Points) Wisely

VP is the currency that runs everything in Pokemon Champions: recruiting Pokemon, buying Mega Stones, adjusting stats and moves, purchasing held items, and unlocking cosmetics. It runs out faster than it looks, especially once you start customizing a competitive team. Some efficient ways to use VP in Pokemon Champions are as follows:

  • Buy your first Mega Stone before anything else since Mega Evolution is central to most strong teams
  • Pick up core held items like Focus Sash, Leftovers, or Choice Scarf for your main Pokemon
  • Save VP for training costs, which add up quickly when adjusting stats, moves, abilities, and natures
  • Avoid spending VP on cosmetics until your team is competitive and you have a reliable VP income
  • Do not constantly refresh the recruitment lineup looking for specific Pokemon unless you are certain that Pokemon is essential to your plan
  • Use Training Tickets when making expensive build changes since a single ticket can cover the full cost of several training adjustments

Tip #4. Complete the Trial Scout Every 22 Hours

The Trial Scout is the most important daily habit in Pokemon Champions for new players. Every 22 hours, you get one free trial that lets you temporarily recruit a Pokemon without spending anything. Use trial scouts to test Pokemon in Casual Battle before spending VP to recruit them permanently You cannot change a trial Pokemon’s moves or stats, but you can test the default build in casual matches to get a feel for the role

At any point during the seven-day trial window, you can convert the Pokemon into a permanent recruit Trial first, spend VP second. Always. There is no reason to permanently recruit without testing first. Never let this reset go to waste. Even if none of the ten options appeal to you, try one anyway. You might find a Pokemon you never considered before.

Tip #5. Practice in Ranked Mode rather than Casual Mode

This one surprises a lot of new players. Ranked Battle pairs you with opponents at roughly the same skill level because of the matchmaking system. Casual Battle has no such protection and pairs you with whoever is available first, which could be a day-one player or someone who already hit Champion Rank. Casual Battle is not easier than Ranked Battle. It is often harder because of uncontrolled matchmaking

If you are struggling in Casual matches, that does not mean Ranked will be the same story. Use Casual to test new teams or specific matchups, not to grind easy wins. Jump into Ranked earlier than you think. The lower ranks are designed to ease new players in. The rank ladder protects you at the bottom. Casual Battle does not.

Tip #6. Learn Double Battles as Early as Possible in Pokemon Champions

Pokemon Champions centers almost entirely on Double Battles for ranked play. Understanding how two Pokemon work together on the same side of the field is the core skill the game is built around. Both of your active Pokemon attack and take hits at the same time, which creates completely different decision-making than Single Battles

Moves that hit all adjacent Pokemon can damage your own partner, so learn which spread moves you are using. Abilities like Intimidate lower the Attack of both opposing Pokemon simultaneously, which is why Incineroar appears on nearly every top team.

Team preview happens before every match. Use it to decide which four of your six Pokemon to bring based on the opponent’s lineup. In ranked Double Battles you bring four of your six, so always build your six with this in mind. The faster you get comfortable in Doubles, the faster everything else about team-building clicks into place.

Tip #7. Choose Your First Mega Pokemon Carefully

Mega Stones are expensive, and Mega Evolution is the centerpiece of most competitive teams in Pokemon Champions. Do not buy Mega Stones randomly or try to collect every Mega Evolution early. Pick one Mega Pokemon that fits a playstyle you enjoy and commit to building around it. Build the rest of your team to support Mega’s strengths and cover its weaknesses. Invest fully in one team before expanding to a second Mega Evolution

If you have access to Pokemon Legends: Z-A, consider transferring Mega Eternal Flower Floette since it is considered part of the current meta and cannot be recruited any other way. One well-built team beats six poorly built teams every time. Go deep before going wide.

Players can enjoy Pokemon Champions even more on a bigger screen of their PC or Laptop with keyboard and mouse via BlueStacks for an elevated gameplay experience.
