THE KING OF FIGHTERS-A 2012(F) is basically that classic arcade-style fighting game everyone used to crowd around, but now it’s made for mobile — and actually runs pretty nicely on PC with something like BlueStacks. The roster is pretty impressive, with a bunch of familiar KOF characters plus a solid bunch of new faces, so there’s plenty of room to mess around with team lineups and just see which fighters click. You’ve got 32 fighters, and the team setup really lets you get creative with matchups.
Solo play feels anything but empty. There are loads of different modes, from one-on-one battles to the classic three-on-three setup, plus things like Endless mode where the challenge just keeps going, and a Time Attack if you’re into setting records. The Challenge mode throws some curveballs your way and makes you play a little differently, which is always fun. The game’s controls are pretty straightforward – on mobile it’s all about the virtual pad, but playing on PC makes things easier with keyboard or controller support, so pulling off combos and big finishers doesn’t take much effort. Even if fighting games aren’t really your thing, there’s a move simplification option that lets you perform special moves with a single tap, which helps a lot when you’re new or just want to play casually.
Outside the fighting, there’s a bunch of unlockable stuff like trading cards and artwork. There are sketches, illustrations, and extras that you pretty much only find in this game, which is a nice bonus for anyone who likes collecting or who’s into KOF history. It manages to keep things feeling fresh just by how much there is to do — whether that’s experimenting with different fighters, practicing combos in training, or just seeing what new art you can unlock.
